Moldova to discuss in Washington its military cooperation with US
Results of cooperation and perspectives of further Moldo-American cooperation in the military sphere will be the main questions to be discussed in Washington by Moldovan Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta.
In the framework of bilateral consultations to be held on January 11 through 13, Moldovan and U.S. military and civilian officials will discuss the course of the military reform under way in this republic, implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) signed between Moldova and NATO, and realization of the recommendations offered earlier by the Center for military and civilian relations of the city of Monterey (California).
Moldovan and U.S. defense officials will sets a plan of military cooperation for next 2 years.
Vitalie Marinuta will brief his American colleagues on the difficulties Moldova is coming across at implementing the military reform in new political conditions.
The RM-U.S. military cooperation began on December 4, 1995, when a memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Moldovan Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Defense Department.
