Moldova Suverana and Nezavisimaia Moldova under investigation
Moldova's State Chancellery will request the General Prosecution and Anti-corruption Centre to investigate the legality of ex-government’s decision to liquidate governmental newspapers ‘Moldova Suverana’ and ‘Nezavisemaia Moldova’.
The announcement was made by state minister Victor Bodiu, who explained that albeit the ex-government had relinquished its quality of founder of those newspapers, there were no documents proving their privatization.
Bodiu claims the de-etatization of the newspapers didn’t take place and that the ex-government simply decided to liquidate them, but didn’t finish the procedure.
Bodiu explained that, after their official liquidation, 3 new private companies have been registered. The founders were the previous administrators of the 2 newspapers in question. They even used the names of their former publications, what contravened the law.
‘Moreover, the government allotted 1 million lei for paying their debts, against the law. We’ll find out how it exactly happened,’ the Moldovan official said.
Bodiu announced he would request the General Prosecution and Anti-corruption Centre to find out whether the brands ‘Moldova Suverana’ and ‘Nezavisimaia Moldova’ were used legally.
