Vlad Filat praised the European Parliament's resolution from 21 October 2010 on the implemented reforms and evolution of the situation in Moldova. Taking into account the importance of the European Parliament after the Lisbon Treaty entered into force, this resolution anticipated the Conclusions on Moldova by the EU Foreign Affairs Council from 25 October 2010. The conclusions contain a string of important provisions for Moldova, including an appeal by the EU Council to the European Commission to elaborate an action plan on the liberalization of the visa regime.

The prime minister also said that Moldova is implementing the key recommendations by the European Commission on a deep and comprehensive free trade zone with the EU.

At the same time, Vlad Filat highlighted the activity of a mission of European Parliament s electoral observers at the 28 November 2010 early parliamentary polls. Jerzy Buzek confirmed that the European Parliament is willing to further assist Moldova. To this end, the EU decided to give Moldova 90 million euros in macro-financial assistance, and considered a possibility to give 100 million euros in assistance within regional policy projects.

The president of the European Parliament said that Moldova is a successful model within the Eastern Partnership.

Also, Jerzy Buzek underlined that he came to Chisinau to convey a message of solidarity in this crucial period for Moldova. At the same time, he stressed that the choice is up to the Moldovan citizens.

"The citizens of all the European countries believe in the same values: democracy, free market economy, social assistance for those in need; we can build a basis for a prosperous future on this," the head of the European Parliament said.

The high official added that the European Union wants close relations with Moldova, and is interested in ensuring stability and developing multilateral cooperation with Moldova.
