Moldova starts snap parliamentary election, no incidents reported
Moldova is holding an early parliamentary election today, with Moldovans being expected to vote in 2,037 polling stations inside the country and 75 abroad.
People can exercise their right to vote from 7:00 to 21:00. Running for MP seats are 39 electoral contenders: 20 parties and 19 independent contenders. Parties need to clear a 4-per-cent electoral threshold, whereas independent contenders a 2-per-cent electoral threshold in order to make it to the parliament.
The minimal required voter turnout is one third of the eligible voters, with the total number of voters standing at 2,650,290.
The secretary of the Central Electoral Commission, Iurie Ciocan, has told journalists that no incidents had taken place at the polling stations.
