The parliamentary oppositional Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has stated it is ready to enter into dialog with the ruling Communist Party (MCP), but on two conditions.

PLDM Chairman Vlad Filat told the first condition is that negotiations between the MCP and opposition must be held in the presence of Western representatives, and the second condition is that the Communists must agree to holding a new parliamentary election.

‘I admit the MCP made some attempts to start a dialog. But after them there followed actions that showed that discussions are pointless. We were blackmailed and threatened. But let's speak about it after 28 May, when the Communists make a second attempt to elect president. Even if the MCP offered the post of Prime Minister to the opposition, this would not be a solution to the problem because country governance has to be considered in a combination (of all key posts)’, Filat said.

He announced the Liberal Democratic faction shall not take part in the 28 May voting, and offered an opinion that a new parliamentary election would not undermine national economy development.

‘I presume we should appoint a competent prime minister and provide him or her with a good team of ministers, who would start working for the nation, instead of rendering services to election campaign’, said the PLDM leader.
