Moldova: Opposition Communist party leads in opinion poll
Moldovan opposition Communists stay high in opinion polls. If a parliamentary election were held next Sunday, the Communist party would win 28 per cent of the vote. The Liberal Democrats, the Democrats and the Liberals would also make it to parliament. These are the findings of the latest opinion poll carried out by the institute IMAS in the second half of April.
According to the survey which was made public today, if a parliamentary election were held next Sunday, 28 per cent of those polled would cast their ballots for the Communist Party, which is 1 per cent less compared with the IMAS survey in November 2009. The Liberal Democrats' rating increased from 10 per cent of those polled in November to 16 per cent. The ratings of Democrats and Liberals fell to about 9 per cent and 5 per cent respectively.
The survey was carried out from 15 April to 3 May 2010 among ! 1,054 people from 75 settlements, with a margin of error of 3 per cent.
Moldova's current parliament should be dissolved after 16 June 2010 as it failed to elect a president.
