Moldova elections: parties allowed to spend up to $670,000
Each political party is allowed to spend up to 7.5m lei (about 670,000 dollars) on the campaign for the 29 July snap parliamentary election, while independent candidates can spend 500,000 lei. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) took a decision to this effect on Saturday, 20 June.
CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan told journalists that the ceiling for spending by parties was set at 12m lei in the campaign for the 5 April parliamentary election but none of the contenders spent more than 5m lei. He added that the ongoing election campaign will be shorter than the previous one.
