Moldova denies entry of Romanian Agerpres correspondent
The border police of the Republic of Moldova on Monday banned the access on the Moldovan territory of Agerpres special correspondent Gabriel Apetrii, on ground that he could not provide a clean bill of health attesting the absence of the HIV/AIDS virus.
Agerpres special correspondent was to relate over July 13-August 2 on the electoral campaign and the early parliamentary elections of July 29, 2009 from the Republic of Moldova.
Chisinau introduced visas for Romanians starting April 9, accusing that many nationals of Romania participated in the protests of ! Chisinau of April.
Moldovan Premier Zinaida Greciani but also th e Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of European Integration said that the visa regime would be maintained at least until Romania signs the Border Treaty with the Republic of Moldova.
At the end of June, President of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, said in a news conference that this would happen only after the EU will allow the liberalized visa regime for the citizens of his country.
