Moldova asks Hungary's assistance in improving border crossing
The using of the potential of Moldova's Registru State Information Resources Center by consular specialists of the EU Visa Center will facilitate the exclusion of Moldova from the list of countries with migration risks, believes Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Moldova Gyorgy Varga.
The Hungarian diplomat met with Moldovan Minister of Informational Development and Telecommunications Alexandru Oleinic to discuss cooperation in this field. The parties touched on the projects initiated in Moldova by the Hungarian side, in particular the development of the EU Visa Center, operating under the auspices of the Hungarian Embassy in Chisinau, and of Moldova's National Center for Personal Data Protection, opened with Hungary's assistance.
The parties highlighted the importance of information exchange between the EU Visa Center and the Registru, which they believe should promote the efficiency of issuing visas to European Union member countries for citizens of Moldova.
To eliminate the red tape in the visa provision process, a particular attention was attached to the need for concluding an inter-governmental Moldo-Hungarian agreement on cooperation in exchanging the personal data of persons applying for entry visas.
The Moldovan side informed the Hungarian Ambassador that negotiations on this project are approaching an end, and a draft agreement will be sent to the Hungarian side soon.
The sides discussed also the question of introducing the special passes, stipulated by the Agreement on Minor Traffic on the border between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. In this connection, the Moldovan side asked the Hungarian colleagues' assistance.
As Infotag has already reported, the above-mentioned Moldo-Romanian Agreement, already initialed by the two foreign ministries concerned, stipulates that the Republic of Moldova citizens, residing within a 50-kilometer-wide strip along the border, will be permitted to enter the Romanian territory without entry visas - only with the said special passes on hands.
