Moldova and Russia discuss the latest developments in Transnistria
The latest events from Transnistria as well as the developments within the conflict resolution in the region were subjects discussed by Eugen Carpov, the Vice-Prime Minister for Reintegration of Moldova, with Serghei Gubarev, the special representative of Russia for Transnistria.
The counterparts reviewed the issues of the conflict, especially those related to the political situation and security in the region. Carpov and Gubarev expressed their confidence that the next round of negotiations in format “5+2” from Dublin, which are due to be held during February 28-29, will be a favorable opportunity to evaluate the real chances to advance in the Transnistrian conflict management, according to Moldpress news agency.
Eugen Carpov stated that the Moldovan authorities support the idea to finding a strong solution for the conflict as soon as possible, which should ensure the balance in the region, respecting the principle of sovereignty and statehood of the Republic of Moldova. The country relies on the involved international partners’ support.
