Moldova accredited international, domestic election observers

Moldova's Central Election Commission (CEC) accredited 28 international and 139 domestic observers to monitor the preterm parliamentary election on 29 July. CEC accredited 15 observers from the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Moldova, 5 observers from the Inter-parliamentary Assembly Council of the CIS Member States and 8 observers from the Executive Committee of the CIS. CEC also accredited 112 observers from the Human Right Protection League of Moldova (LADOM), 17 observers from the Confederation of NGOs of Moldova and 10 observers from the Public Association ‘Promo-Lex’. CEC registered 25 interpreters from the OSCE/ODIHR Office.

Earlier, on 30 June, the election body registered the first 20 international observers of the total of 200 from the OSCE/ODIHR Office, who will monitor the preterm election and other 65 domestic observers from the Institute for Human Rights of Moldova (IDOM). The documents necessary for the accreditation as observer to monitor the preterm election should be submitted to the CEC by 25 July, 2009. The election on 5 April was monitored by 3 000 international and domestic observers.
