MNA RENDERS ‘LAST HONORS’ TO COMMUNIST AUTHORITIES

The oppositional Moldova Noastra Alliance organized an action of protest before the Government Building last Sunday “to give last honors to the Communist governance”.

The symbolic funeral was attended by about 500 persons. At it, MNA First Deputy Chairman MP Veaceslav Untila said the Alliance was thus rendering a ‘farewell ceremony’ to the Communist power, “which had not met practically a singe of their election pledges. So such government must go. Compatriots will be eternally recollecting the Communist rule as eight years of poverty, lie and devastation”.

MNA MP Leonid Bujor pointed out the presence of various population layers’ representatives in such unusual action of protest – students, the unemployed, pensioners “and others whom the Communist government deceived and is continuing to deceive”.

The protesters cried out anti-communist slogans, held in their hands the portraits of the country's leading personalities against the background of a huge inscription “Titnareni garbage dump”, thus hinting that “the Communists’ proper place should be at the Chisinau town dump” [situated near the village of Tintareni].

The Communist Party’s representative at the Central Election Commission, Sergiu Sirbu, stated on Monday morning the action was a gross violation of all norms of ethic and of the Electoral Code. He said he might well decide to demand punishment of the Moldova Noastra Alliance for such insulting frivolity.
