Mihai Ghimpu: Moldovan ruling alliance should nominate a single presidential candidate
"If the presidential elections are conducted in autumn, then the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) shall propose a single candidate for presidency", acting President and Parliamentary speaker Mihai Ghimpu said in an interview with Publika TV channel on Friday.
Ghimpu said that leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) Marian Lupu must be this candidate. "We have to remember the document signed by 4 parties of the AEI in moment of it's creating, the document concerning our agreements. The alliance would not exist without the Democratic Party, and without Lupu - Ghimpu would not be the President, and Vladimir Filat - the Prime Minister", Ghimpu said. He added if presidential elections are conducted together with early parliamentary, the Liberal Party will nominate its own candidate. Ghimpu said he will dissolve the Parliament till the end of 2010 only if the constitutional referendum has a positive result.
