Meeting of the EU-Moldova Cooperation Council started in Brussels

A meeting of the EU-Moldova Cooperation Council started in Brussels today. The forum is being attended by a Moldovan delegation, which is headed by Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and comprises Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca, Deputy Minister Natalia Gherman, and Moldova’s Permanent Representative at European Communities, Ambassador Daniela Cujba.

The consulting parties are expected to sign a Joint Statement determining the perspectives of the Republic of Moldova’s cooperation with the European Union. As Iurie Leanca said shortly before departure to Brussels, the document will reflect the new quantitative and qualitative changes reached in the Chisinau-Brussels relations, and will set goals for 2010 and a longer perspective.

While in Brussels, the Moldovan delegation members will hold meetings with many European officials.
