Medvedev: Russia is interested in having Moldova an independent, sovereign state
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the Russian Federation is interested in having Republic of Moldova an independent state.
“Russia is interested in Republic of Moldova to be a strong, independent and sovereign state,” Dmitry Medvedev said in a joint meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Vlad Filat who is currently paying a visit to Russia.
Mr. Medvedev stated that his country has an interest in developing better ways and means for resolving the Transnistrian conflict.
“We are open to talk about this subject that is very important for Moldova in order to develop as an independent and sovereign state,” Mr. Medvedev said.
Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat thanked Russia for their “stable position regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova,” adding that the settlement of this conflict will increase the quality of life on the left bank of Nistru River.
Vlad Filat’s agenda has a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin planned for tomorrow.
