MAI requires political competitors
The Internal Ministry (MAI) requires the political competitors to abstain themselves in the electoral campaign from the deliberate politicizing of the activity of the police against criminality and not to admit actions that attempt on the order of law, according to BASA-press.
“Taking into account the emotional character of certain political formations involved in the electoral campaign and the character of the actions organized lately in the neighbourhood of the MAI headquarters, it is likely the fact that certain destructive forces, breaking the law on meetings and attempting on the public security, aim at destabilizing through provocations the situation in Chisinau and at deliverately defaming the image of the police in front of the citizens”, according to a ministerial press release.
In the context, MAI expresses their concern about the events that took place on Tuesday, downtown, when a group of young men organized a protest and broke the law on meetings. During three hours, the main roads of Chisinau were blocked - Ştefan cel Mare, Puşkin, Armenească, Alexandru cel Bun. Most of the protesters were teenagers, pupils and students.
In the morning of March 17, some hundreds of young men organized a protest in front of the MAI, in line with the incident when a policeman shot to death a teenager, during an operation. MAI announced that they initiated internal inquest on the policeman's name.
