MAE disputes CEC’s decision to stamp identity cards
The Social-Political Movement “European Action” (MAE) challenged the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to put the electoral stamp in voters’ identity cards in court.
On February 16, the MAE lodged an application to the Court of Appeals, demanding that the CEC is summoned to appear in court.
The MAE president Anatol Petrencu told a news conference on Tuesday that the Commission’s decision runs counter to a number of constitutional and legal norms and should be cancelled because the CEC misused its power and violated the constitutional principle of separation of the powers in the state.
The Central Election Commission said that the electoral stamp would be imprinted in the identity cards in order to make the voting process safer.
