LP and LDPM confirm readiness to form governing coalition
The Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova have confirmed readiness to form a governing coalition after the April 5 parliamentary elections. Their leaders Dorin Chirtoaca and Vladimir Filat stated this in the course of a live pre-election debate on the Moldova-1 public television channel on Tuesday night.
Earlier, intention to take part in such coalition was declared by the Moldova Noastra Alliance.
The Liberal Democrats and Liberals presume they are capable of laying a solid foundation for a democratic rule in Moldova. At the same time, the two parties keep on criticizing each other for all possible sins.
For instance, Dorin Chirtoaca stated during the debate, “LDPM representatives are urging citizenry to vote for Chirtoaca and for the oak [the LDPM’s electoral symbol]. This is politically incorrect”.
Filat was quick to retort that “such accusations are causing nothing but pity… When citizens vote for the oak, they know they are voting for Vlad Filat, but when they cast ballots for Dorin Chirtoaca [LP Deputy Chairman], they in fact vote for Mihai Ghimpu [LP Chairman and Chirtoaca’s uncle].
