LIVE: Biden's declarations in Moldova (VIDEO)
Chișinău/ Moldova.ORG/ -- (Update 13-55) Joe Biden and Moldovan PM Vlad Filat’s press conference just ended a few minutes ago in Chisinau. In his speech, the US vice president has mentioned that the USA appreciates the steps that Moldova has taken so far in order to develop the democracy and the progress it has achieved in establishing the relations with the European Union.
Joe Biden said that he believes that Moldova’s future is in the EU and that the US will offer significant support in order to help Moldova achieve its goals.
The American support, as Joe Biden has mentioned, will consist of helping the government continue its economic reforms, offering additional assistance to strengthen the democratic institutions, to develop the independent media, to boost agricultural sector and abolishing the Jackson-Vanik amendment.
“We want to see American business investment in your country” he said.
Also Joe Biden raised the Transnistrian conflict issue, saying he had discussed it in Russia as well. “Transnistria lies within Moldova” and people deserve to alleviate this conflict.
