Liliana Vitu - new director of Moldova 1 public TV's news department
Journalist Liliana Vitu-Esanu was assigned on Friday director of the News Department of the public TV channel „Moldova 1”, DECA-press Agency informs.
Nine of the 12 members of a Committee of the Public Company „Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM) voted for Liliana Vitu-Esanu.
Other three persons ran for the post of director of the News Department of TV „Moldova 1”. They are as follows: Dina Clapco, former producer of „Jurnal TV”, Daniel Lachi, coordinator of the news editorial staff of TV „Colorit” and Larisa Manole, PLDM’s press officer.
The competition for the director of the News Department of TV „Moldova 1” was announced after February 20, 2010, when Angela Sarbu had been elected director of TV „Moldova 1”. Liliana Vitu-Esanu replaced the head of the news editorial staff journalist Violeta Iepureanu.
As Monitor Media Agency specifies, the new head of the News Department intends to diversify the news bulletins and informing programs from the point of view of quantity; put the focus on the quality of informing products and administer efficiently human resources of the News Department. Vitu-Esanu proposes the production of nine news bulletins per day, including three in Russian language.
The former BBC reporter to Chisinau (1998-2004), Liliana Vitu-Esanu (31 years old) worked for to months at „Publika TV”. Before that, in the period between 2008 and 2009, she worked for the International Republican Institute. She was communication coordinator at Eurasia Foundation representative of Moldova and press officer of the British Embassy to Chisinau.
Liliana Vitu-Esanu graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moldova State University and took her Master’s degree in European Modern Studies at the Metropolitan University of London. She is known as media expert. She is the co-author of some reports of Freedom House regarding Moldovan mass media. In 2001, the Chisinau Press Club awarded her one of the ten best journalists of the Republic of Moldova.
