LADOM confirm electoral authorities functioned legally
The League for the Defence of Human Rights in Moldova (LADOM) expresses its concern about the events happening in Moldova following the parliamentary polls on 5 April and confirms that during the electoral campaign the electoral authorities functioned within a legal framework.
LADOM condemns any violent action. The irregularities committed during the electoral campaigns by the election runners and some representatives of the public authorities, noticed by LADOM were not capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process." a League’s statement has shown.
LADOM calls for keeping and promoting the values "which define us as human beings" no matter the election’s results. "We encourage the authorities and protesters, regardless of their political opinions, to abstain from any violence and intolerance. The political dialog is the only reasonable solution to reach the settlement of the situation."
The League for the Defence of Human Rights makes every effort to ensure the protection of the citizens’ rights and is going to monitor any situation which conflicts with the democratic principles outlined in the European Convention for Human Rights and other international documents Moldova is part of.
