The remains of a U.S. soldier from Texas reported missing in action 58 years ago during the Korean War, have been identified, the Defense Department said Monday.

The remains of Master Sgt. Cirildo Valencio of Carrizo Springs, Texas, will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors. He will be buried Aug. 4 in Arlington National Cemetery near Washington.

Valencio was fighting with the 1st Cavalry Division near Unsan, North Korea, in an area known as the Camel's Head in November 1950 when his battalion was surrounded by two Chinese divisions and was decimated. Valencio was one of the more than 350 servicemen unaccounted-for from the battle.

His remains were found in 2002.
