Judge dismisses Olympic bombing libel suit
A judge has dismissed the final claim in Olympic security guard Richard Jewell's libel suit against The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The lawsuit, which once included 22 claims, revolved around the newspaper's reporting of Jewell as a suspect in the Centennial Olympic bombing investigation, the newspaper said Wednesday.
State Court Judge John R. Mather dismissed the final claim Tuesday.
"We are pleased by the judge's ruling," Journal-Constitution Publisher John Mellott said, "which affirms what we always knew -- that our reporting of the Centennial Olympic bombing investigation was fair, responsible and accurate."
Jewell was 44 when he died in August of a heart attack.
