Iran nuclear programme&sanctions: Protesters set alight British embassy in Tehran (VIDEO)
Chişinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- The conflict around Iran's nuclear programme escalates day by day. This time world community’s attention to this West Asian state was attracted by the unacceptable incident.
Reportedly a group of around several hundred demonstrators captured the British embassy compound in Tehran. The protesters gathered there to express their disagreement and rage on UK that has imposed new financial sanctions on Iran in November. The sanctions are again imposed over Iran's nuclear programme.
The demonstrators were enough aggressive not just to break into the building. They even have ransacked offices, framed picture of Queen Elizabeth II, burned the British flag, screaming "the embassy of Britain should be taken over" and "death to England". The embassy documents had been set alight too.
Reportedly there are no injured amongst embassy’s staff. The personnel managed to whip by the back door.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s words of regret for the occurred incident doesn’t really sound sincere taking into consideration the fact that according to Iranian radio report some Iran's parliamentarians had chanted "Death to Britain" during the vote to downgrade diplomatic relations with the UK, which was approved by 87% of deputies this Sunday.
