Harsh statements from a journalist over the Russian Patriarchate
“Do not stick your snout in Moldova’s affairs!” This statement was made by the Russian journalist Valeria Novodvorskaya and is addressed to the Russian Orthodox Church. She made this comment referring to the anti-discrimination draft law which became controversial in Moldova lately.
In a video posted recently on the internet, the journalist urges the Moscow Patriarchate to do not get involved in Moldova’s affairs, saying that the country wants to be a civilized state, so, it needs changes.
“There is no evidence that the Transnistrian region is populated by homosexuals, but I know that there are former soviet troops deployed. Hence, the security of the country will not be affected by the homosexuals, but by the Russian army,” Ms. Novodvorskaya said.
“I have no idea how the Russian Patriarchate is going to threat Moldova and what else does it want to buy, but I have no worries because there lives Natalia Morari and she is the rod of democracy,” says the journalist in an interview.
According to her, the gay-pride parades are a reaction of the long-term forbiddances.
“The people are tired, they want to be free,” the woman added.
The Russian Patriarchate is against the anti-discrimination law which the Moldovan authorities want to enforce. The law is required within the framework of negotiations with the EU in order to gain a free travel regime with the European Union.
