Greece, Netherlands join EU visa center in Moldova
From now on, Moldovan citizens will be able to apply for and obtain Greek and Dutch visas at the EU Common Visa Centre at the Hungarian embassy in Chisinau.
The Hungarian ambassador to Moldova told a news conference today that Greece and the Netherlands joined the EU Common Visa Centre on 1 January 2010.
The ambassador said that Slovakia, Croatia and Norway had also been invited to join the centre.
He added that the centre received over 8,000 visa applications in 2009. Fifty-three per cent of visas were issued free of charge and only 13 per cent of visa applications rejected.
The EU Common Visa Centre was opened on 25 April 2007 at the Hungarian embassy in Chisinau and has been issuing visas to those travelling to Hungary, Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Slovenia, Sweden, Luxembourg, Finland and Belgium.
