Gagauz minority wants Russian to be official language in Moldova
The Gagauz authorities will propose the Chisinau authorities to change the Constitution. Hence, the Russian language would become a state language in the Republic of Moldova, DECA-press Agency informs.
The Comrat Executive Power will develop a draft law, that will be submitted for adoption to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia – the autonomy’s legislative body. After that, the above-mentioned proposal will be given for approval to Republic of Moldova Parliament.
The governor of the autonomy, Mihai Formuzal, believes making Russian language as an official language of the country would encourage the inter-ethnic harmony all over Moldova.
There are three official languages in the Gagauz autonomy – “Moldovan, Gagauz and Russian”.
