Former Moldovan Speaker Ghimpu demands dismissal of the Supreme Court's chairman

Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- Former Moldovan Speaker and leader of the Liberal Party , Ghimpu, asked for dismissal of the Supreme Court's chairman, Muruianu, and withdrawal him the title of judge, also, in today's Parliament meeting.
Ghimpu's application comes from yesterday's decision, approved by the Supreme Court of Justice, that elections and the mandate of Dorin Chirtoaca (member of the Liberal Party, winner of local elections in Chisinau) as General Mayor of Chisinau validation should be examined by the Court of Appeal in Balti (a town in the North of Moldova).
According to the Former Speaker, the law enforcement situation in Moldova has exceeded any limits. "We reached that a lower court annuls the decision of a higher one," said the Liberal Ghimpu.
"The case of passing for examination the validation of Chirtoaca's mandate to the Balti Court of Appeal shows that the president of the Supreme Court deals with politics instead of justice, not working in accordance with the law, but under pressure, either financial or political.

I propose to examine the situation at the Supreme Court and to dismiss Muruianu from President and, also, register the project of taking him off the judge status", said Ghimpu.
He added that another reason in this matter would be the large number of cases lost by the Republic of Moldova at the ECHR.
We must mention the fact that Muruianu entered the public opinion after calling journalists "mad dogs dangerous to society", in a speech of his, accusing them of slandering judges and of lost files at the European Court for Human Rights. Subsequently, he brought his apologies to the media.
