Final Romanian election results: Băsescu is the winner

Traian Băsescu obtained 50,33 per cent of the din votes and Mircea Geoană 49,66 per cent, according to the final results offered by the Romanian Central Election Office (BEC) at 2.45 p.m.

BEC counted the votes in 100 per cent of the voting sections by 14.45. Thus, Incumbent Basescu is the winner.

According to the data provided by BEC at the second election round, which took place on Sunday the total number of the electors registered on the copies of the permanent voting lists is 18,303,224. The presence to polls was of 58.02 per cent.
