Filat hopes right-centrist coalition will find 2 votes needed for electing president
The would-be Right-Centrist coalition of 59 shall necessarily find the precious 2 votes it so far misses for electing new President of Moldova in parliament, Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Filat stated optimistically on the Moldova-1 public television on Monday night.
He stressed that the 2 votes can come from nowhere else except the Communist faction, "so they shall come all right - without whatever blackmail".
"The Communists certainly realize that Moldova does not want one more election. We tried to enter into negotiations with them, but their leader [Vladimir Voronin] is unable of doing anything but insulting people", said Vladimir Filat.
It is his conviction that the Republic of Moldova has no other alternative at the moment except creating a new Alliance for European Integration.
"The chief task now is to work out mechanisms to ensure a 4-year-long efficient country governance. The nation has given us 59 mandates in parliament, and it is our duty to justify their expectations", said Vladimir Filat.
He promised that at the nearest consultative meeting of the AEI leaders [i.e. on December 21] he will present his position on the conditions of forming a new governing coalition.
"State posts will be distributed not mathematically. Most probably, we will divide responsibilities and work spheres", stressed Filat, and assured that the LDPM is ready for a reasonable compromise at forming a Right-Centrist coalition.
At the same time, Vladimir Filat said he is not ruling out completely a theoretical possibility that a Left-Centrist coalition may appear, "though I personally just cannot imagine what the Communists can offer to the Democrats and their leader Marian Lupu".
In conclusion, Filat assured the national television viewers that by December 28 at the latest they shall hear which type of governing alliance the country will have and, accordingly, which way of national development it will thus choose.
