Maria Petre, a member of the European Parliament delegation for Moldova, presumes Moldova should use Romania’s European integration experience.

Commenting the recently presented European Commission’s Progress Report on the implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy by Moldova in 2007, she pointed out that an efficient implementation of reforms is unthinkable without hard work in such spheres as the reform of the judiciary, corruption prevention, press freedom, improvement of business and investment climate.

In her opinion, the said Report is analogous to the document on Romania the European Commission issued when the country was at its early stage of integration into Europe.

“Romania’s experience may appear exclusively useful for Moldova, and the new Moldovan Government should notice this helping hand being offered to it. The Romanian experience has demonstrated clearly that it is not solely the creation of a European-type legislation that matters, but also the administration’s capability to create a mechanism for making laws work. It has also demonstrated that European partners are quite useful. Moldova should know that Romanians are its genuine friends, and this republic ought to avail itself of this circumstance”, said the European parliamentarian. // Infotag
