EU visa center expanding work geography in Moldova
Starting from early 2010, the EU Visa Center in Chisinau, working under the auspices of the Hungarian Embassy here, will expand its work geography by adding 4 more countries - Finland, Belgium, Switzerland and Greece, it was said at the Moldo-Hungarian consultations on consular issues that have just completed here.
The Hungarian side announced at the consultations that negotiations are currently under way to attract also Croatia and Slovakia into the Visa Center's activities.
Constantin Burgiu, Director of the Consular Department of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who headed the Moldovan side at the consultations, stated that Chisinau is strongly interested in easing the existing regime of visa issuance. He also mentioned the problems, which citizens of Moldova come across while in Hungary.
According to the Ministry's press release, the sides spoke out for a soonest-possible launching of joint projects in the field of mobile partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and for efficient realization of bilateral agreements concluded in the consular sphere.
The Hungarian delegation to the consultations reaffirmed their country's readiness to back Moldova in its initiating a dialog on liberalization of the existing visa regime with the European Union.
The EU Visa Center has been working in Chisinau since April 2007.
