EU postpones the Agreement on the Common Airspace with Moldova
European Commission has postponed the subscription of the Agreement regarding the Common Airspace with the Republic of Moldova. The agreement was supposed to be signed on March 23, 2012.
The reason of this delay is the freeze of all decisions regarding the agreements between the European Union and the third countries as a result of a dispute between the European Commission and the Council of the European Union. After the parts will overcome the issue, the EU will be allowed to sign agreements with third countries again.
“As a result of the undertaking made by the Government of the Republic of Moldova to the European institutions, the Agreement with Moldova will be on the list of the first meeting of the Council of EU,” informs the Moldovan Government in a statement.
The Agreement on a Common Airspace with the European Union is designed to offer the foreign airlines the possibility to operate low-cost flights from Moldova. The joint airspace will facilitate the travel of passengers from Moldova to the European Union member states.
