EU is not sure when Moldova will have a free-visa travel regime
Chisinau / Moldova.org / -- The European Union (EU) – Republic of Moldova relationship improved a lot during 2011. The opinion belongs to Dirk Schuebel, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, in an interview made by the Moldovan daily newspaper Jurnal de Chisinau.
“We have closed eight rounds of bargaining regarding the future Association Agreement and we have come to a joint accord regarding to a significant part of this agreement,” said Dirk Schuebel for Jurnal de Chisinau.
“I am sure that the Moldovan citizens will experience the positive effects of our co-operation very soon, whereas some of them have already benefited from the assistance offered to the issuance of biometric passports, new roads or rebuilding the old ones,” added Mr. Schuebel.
Vlad Filat, the premier of the country has previously stated that the Moldovan citizens will freely travel within the European Union until the end of 2012. The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova is actually unsure when the project will be implemented.
“It is difficult to tell when Moldova will have a free-visa travel regime within the EU, but I see this goal to implement it by the end of 2012 very ambitious,” said Dirk Schuebel. He has also added that it is important the Moldovan authorities to continue the reforms in order to multiply the good results.
