Energy, healthcare top Bush agenda
WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush will tell U.S. citizens Tuesday practical ways can be found to advance the American dream.
An overview of the 2007 State of the Union address issued by the White House shows Bush will address energy, healthcare, spending reform, education, immigration and the judiciary on the domestic side, and the war on terror, Iraq, the military and an emergency plan for dealing with AIDS in Africa on the international front.
Bush will ask Americans to reduce fuel consumption 20 percent in the next 10 years and announce proposals he says will expand healthcare coverage.
The president will call on Congress to restrain spending, reauthorize the No Child Left Behind Act, pass immigration reform and fill the vacancies on the federal bench.
Bush will repeat his position on Iraq and the war on terror and call for establishment of an advisory council. He will ask Congress to up the military by 92,000 soldiers and Marines over the next five years. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
