Draft action plan for future Moldova-EU talks presented in Brussels
A Moldovan governmental delegation, headed by Deputy Economics Minister Octavian Calmic, presented to the European Commission a draft action plan for the future Moldova-European Union negotiations on a deep free trade agreement, within a meeting of the Moldova-EU Subcommittee for Trade and Investments, held in Brussels on 11 November, the Economics Ministry's public relations service has said.
European Commission's representatives very positively appreciated Moldova's efforts to prepare for the launch of talks on the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) in the region, as well as the speed with which the document was elaborated.
The European Commission recommended that the Moldovan government should establish a mechanism for monitoring and reporting the progress made while implementing the proposed actions, and regularly present reports on the recorded progress to the European Commission.
Deputy Economics Minister Octavian Calmic said that the draft plan will be consulted with business people, including from the Transnistrian region, and civil society. Calmic said that, after being finished, the plan will be submitted to the government for approval till late 2010. Also, governmental institutions are to identify the necessary technical and consultative assistance to achieve the set goals.
The action plan is a comprehensive document, which includes the fulfillment of key and additional recommendations made by the European Commission on 26 October 2010, after an evaluation mission to Moldova on 31 May - 2 June 2010, according to the Economics Ministry's public relations service.
