Dirk Schuebel: Negotiation between Moldova and EU to be finished by September 2013

Dirk Schuebel, the Head of the EU Mission to Moldova

Republic of Moldova has registered progress in terms of reforms during the last three years. The opinion belongs to Dirk Schuebel, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, who made the statement in an interview with Info-Prim Neo news agency.

“I think that the Republic of Moldova has registered progress during the last three years, but there is a lot more work to be done, especially what concerns the judicial system reform and the force institutions reform,” Dirk Schuebel said.

According to him, the judicial reform has a budget of 52 million Euro.

“I consider that the Republic of Moldova has performance, but it still has to work hard,” added the EU official.

Dirk Schuebel is hopeful that all the negotiation between Moldova and the EU will be finished by September 2013.

For a better approach to the European regulations, the citizens must get involved in the process of democratization of the Republic of Moldova, says the Ambassador. He believes that good steps have been made by the citizens during the past months.

“Civil society became more active than in the past – not only in the political sector, but also in environment, consumer’s rights and others,” Dirk Schuebel said.

The official welcomes the tight co-operation with the civil society in the Transnistrian region.
