Dirk Schuebel: Moldovan politicians are more concerned with personal and party matters, than national ones

EU Ambassador to Chisinau Dirk Schuebel affirms that the problem of the Republic of Moldova is in its politicians, who lack a vision of the future of this country and don’t pay enough attention to its problems. “They focus more on personal issues and the problems of the party which they represent. The progress will be difficult in this area, but also in others, as long as the approach oriented towards the party interest dominates”, mentions the Ambassador in an interview for eco.md.

However, the official says that the relationships between the parties of the alliance have improved. Mr. Schuebel believes that this could bring an improvement of the business environment and of the whole reform process. “This progress will be essential to take advantage of the future EU-Moldova Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement”, added Schuebel.

Dirk Schuebel is also optimist in what concerns the course of reforms. “I believe they are on the right way and will bring results even before the next parliamentary elections to take place in two and a half years”.

At the same time, Schuebel calls on those from the Party of Communists to participate in the EU integration process of the Republic of Moldova. “In this context, I would like other parties, besides those from the ruling coalition, especially the Party of Communists, which is in opposition, to join the European integration efforts, which is the major objective of the country”, concluded the official.
