Democrats, liberals criticize Filat's being too independent
The Democratic Party and the Liberal Party presume the country's 2011 budget-and-tax policy could be more efficient had it been drafted through holding detailed and deep consultations will all the governing Alliance for European Integration constituent parties.
Moldova's Acting President and Speaker of Parliament Marian Lupu, the DP Chairman, answered journalists' questions after the parliament plenary sitting last Saturday and called upon the incumbent and future Governments to never be late with submitting the drafts of budget-and-tax policies to parliament.
"Had the policy concept been discussed in the Alliance prior to writing the document in government, the policy would have been much better than it is now. Alas, due to the stubbornness of some of our AEI partners, we all have lost the chance to include a number of bright social ideas into the document. For instance, the Liberals proposed to push up excise duties on strong alcoholic beverages with a simultaneous lowering of excises on diesel fuel to thus help the farm sector. The Ministry of Finance said the idea was really good, but there was already no time enough for carrying out necessary calculations", said Marian Lupu.
Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu thinks the Premier Filat's budget-and-tax policy is "very bad".
"We would like to provide subsidies to the farm sector from the revenues that would come thank to higher excises. Honestly, our agricultural sector has been thrown to the mercy of fate this year. I guess we could build up excise duty rates on a whole number of other goods, too, so as to help our agriculture", said Mihai Ghimpu.
