Dad sought to clear wife in baby's death
Kimberly Dawn Trenor's husband sought to clear her of killing her 2-year-old daughter, documents at her Galveston, Texas, murder trial showed.
Trenor's husband, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, said she was innocent in a note written before a suicide attempt. But, in another letter to a relative, he called Trenor a sociopath and a liar and threatened a divorce, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Trenor, 20, who also wrote a suicide note, and Zeigler, 25, are accused of killing Riley Ann Sawyers, known as Baby Grace before her remains were identified. Ziegler will be tried later.
Trenor gave a videotaped statement saying that she and Zeigler killed Riley during a daylong disciplinary session July 25, 2007. She said Riley was beaten with belts, pushed face-first into a pillow, held under bath water and hurled onto a tile floor.
She said they stuffed Riley's body in a blue plastic box and kept it in a storage room for about two months before tossing it off the railroad bridge next to the Galveston Causeway.
