Corruption of Moldovan officials delays the Transnistrian conflict settlement
Corruption and the personal interests of the Moldova officials are the basic features that hinder the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, considers Transnistrian conflict analyst Oazu Nantoi, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to him, a significant part of the illegal activities of some Moldovan officials are carried out through Transnistria.
“Moldovan society accepted the idea that the country is divided into two and nobody is interested in the fate of this dispute,” Mr. Nantoi said.
The expert believes that a solution to the problem is applying some measures to fight corruption.
“The interests of the officials hamper the resolution of the Transnistrian dispute. A possible solution to the current situation in Moldova is to hasten the implementation of the reform at the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption and to create the National Integrity Commission,” the expert claimed.
In his opinion, the Transnistrian conflict is a dispute between the project to strengthen Moldova and Russia’s ambition sagainst Moldova’s sovereignty through its support of separatism.
