Consultations on Moldova held in Brussels

Consultations on possibilities of interaction between Russia and the EU to achieve stabilization in Moldova, to promote Transnistrian conflict settlement, and to normalize situation around South Ossetia and Abkhazia were held in Brussels last Tuesday.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the consultations were held with the participation of Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin and Deputy Secretary of the Russian Federation's Security Council Yury Zoubakov.

They met with Javier Solana, the EU Foreign & Security Policy Chief and Secretary General of the EU Council. That meeting was attended by Helga Schmidt - Head of the Political Department of the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, by Kalman Mizsei - the EU Special Representative for Moldova, by EU Special Representatives for Georgia - Pierre Morel and for South Caucasus - Piter Semnebi.

The Russian foreign ministry said the discussions were held in a constructive atmosphere and confirmed mutual interestedness in a further work in such format.
