Communist Party of Moldova appeals the election of the President
Moldova’s Communist Party (PCRM) is contesting the recent election of President Nicolae Timofti. Members of the Party gathered today in front of the Constitutional Court from Chisinau to appeal the decision. They have sent three appeals to the Court but all have been rejected during a special session today.
MPs Artur Resetnicov and Sergiu Sarbu challenge the Chairman of the Constitutional Court. They also state that the Parliament should be dissolved and new election should be held.
The Communist Party organized a massive protest on March 16, the day the Parliament chose the President. They opposed the decision and called for new election. None of the deputies from PCRM casted their vote.
Moldova hasn’t had a President for 917 days. Nicolae Timofti was elected as President with 62 votes out of 101.
