Christoph Zopel: Elections in Moldova should be free and fair
Christoph Zopel, ex-minister of foreign affairs of Germany, chairman of the Committee for Economic Policies and Social Cohesion of the Socialist International, asserts that elections in Moldova should be free and fair. He made this declaration on Monday, at a press conference, DECA-press informs.
The European official mentioned that visits Moldova to participate in Democratic Party’s Sunday Congress, within which Marian Lupu had been elected leader of faction.
He said that socialists were very much interested in extending social-democracy in totalitarian-system countries.
Christoph Zopel said that the events held on 7 April (riots, repression of police against protesters) in Moldova contradict social-democrats’ values on human rights.
