CEC DEMANDS TO REVOKE OPPOSITION’S VISUALS DEFILING MCP
The Central Election Commission has compelled the Moldova Noastra Alliance (MNA) and the Liberal Party (LP) to revoke their electoral visuals defaming the ruling Moldovan Communist Party (MCP), following the persistent request lodged by Sergiu Sirbu, the MCP spokesman at the CEC.
Sirbu claimed the MNA spiel says that the 8 years of the Communist rule were “years of poverty, lying and stealing”, and demonstrates archive movies featuring the coming of Soviet tanks to Bessarabia during the Second World War, Stalinist deportations of the Moldovans to Siberia.
Sergiu Sirbu stated such parallels and comparisons are impermissible, for they are blackening the Moldovan Communist Party’s image in public eyes.
MNA spokesman at the CEC Nicolae Railean stated that he saw nothing defaming the MCP, and that everything what the MNA visual demonstrates is a pure truth. And LP representative Victor Morgoci said the Liberal Party’s promo proceeds from the party’s convictions. However, the CEC perceived the ruling party’s position as grounded.
The Liberals stated they would challenge the CEC decision with the Chisinau Appeals Chamber.
