Traian Băsescu, Romania's president, is vexated by the deconspiration of the Romanian spy in Moskow, stated the spokesman of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Nesterenko. He considers Băsescu's declaration considering “Moldova's occupation” to be purely propagandist, cites radio station Voice of Russia.

During the meeting between Moldova's Prime Minister, Vlad Filat, and Romania's president, Traian Băsescu, on Thursday, the latter declared to mass-media that “the interest of Romania is that Moldova regains its independence and territorial integrity”.

“To exaggerate about Russian occupation can serve to a range of propagandist goals, including pretending to be the defender of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova”, said Nesterenko.

He also added that Băsescu's allegation “reveals the vexation (of the Romania's president, Băsescu)” with the scandal in which was involved the Romanian spy, who didn't manage to collect the information he was looking for in Moskow”.

Russia' arguments

Nesterenko explained that Russian troops in Transnsistria promotes the resolution of the conflict in this region. „If (Traian Băsescu) refers to the Russian tactic units present in Transnistria in a peace-maintainance mission, it is to be mentioned that they where mobilized on the basis of the peaceful-regulation agreement in Transnistria region of the Republic of Moldova”, stressed Nesterenko.

The relations between Romania and Russia became tensioned at the beginning of this week, immediately after Gabriel Grecu, a diplomatic at the Romanian Embassy, was declared persona non grata in Moskow, as he was considered to be spying for NATO.
