Basescu lobbies for Republic of Moldova’s connection to EU energy policies
Romanian President Traian Basescu addressed the issue of energy policy within the EPP Congress in Bucharest. He argued that European energy security “cannot be dealt with in stages”, B1 notes.
The Romanian President mentioned in his speech the advantages of Black Sea area, especially Republic of Moldova, connection to EU energy policies.
“Romania’s contribution to building a pan/European energy policy is based on a clear position. As Europe’s security is indivisible, so European energy security cannot be dealt with in stages. European energy projects cannot stop at Romania’s eastern border. That’s why we should capitalize the advantages of connecting Black Sea area and Energy Community member states, firstly Republic of Moldova, to EU energy policies”, Traian Basescu explained, quoted by B1.
