Antonio Polosa appointed as the new chief of IOM Moldova

The Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Moldova has a new Chief. Mr. Antonio Polosa, a national of Italy is the new head of IOM to Chisinau, informs the United Nations Mission to Moldova on its website.

Antonio Polosa has previously worked for UNHCR and ION in Mozambique. Mr. Poloso got his Doctor’s Degree from the University of Catania, Italy. Besides his native language Italian, he can also speak English, French and Portuguese.

Established in Moldova since 2001, the International Organization for Migration is committed to the principle that human management of migration can benefit countries of origin, countries of destination and migrants alike. IOM works in Moldova to build capacities of the Government and civil society institutions in development of migration management policies and procedures within the country, as well as on regional and international levels.

It promotes international cooperation on migration issues and assists the Republic of Moldova in the search for effective solutions to migration challenges such as brain drain, the productive use of remittances and the protection of persons whose lives are negatively affected by migration. IOM is also part of the UN Country Team in Moldova which includes more than 20 resident and non-resident UN agencies and programms.
