Anti-corruption Prokuratura submits to court cases against 37 cops and 19 customs officers in 2010
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office [prokuratura] examined 821 criminal cases in 2010 (686 cases in 2009), where 103 of them have been submitted to court. A part of the criminal proceedings were initiated against 37 police officers and 19 customs officers.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, there were also submitted to court cases against 9 primars [local governors], 4 secretaries of local councils, 5 employees of primarias [local government], 1 local counselor, 4 lawyers, 2 inspectors of subdivisions of the Ministry of Informational Technologies and Telecommunications, 1 university vice chancellor, 7 directors of educational institutions, 2 notaries, 2 inspectors of registry offices, 6 medics, 1 former director of a bank and 3 heads of state enterprises.
According to prosecutors, most cases submitted to court are concerned of the corruption. The number of requests on infringements went up 5.3% against 2009 and reached 517.
The Anti-Corruption Prokuratura carried out about 100 inspections for revealing corruption risks within the year. According to their results, there were initiated 12 criminal cases and submitted 66 requests on liquidation of revealed violations.
