"Al-Qaeda" has appointed as its new leader Ayman az-Zavahiri

Mariana Puzderi / Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- The international terrorist organization, al-Qaeda has appointed as its new leader Ayman az-Zavahiri, reported Reuters agency on Thursday, with reference to the Arab media.

Former al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, was killed on the night of 2 May by the American Joint Special Operations Command forces in the reinforced house in the area of Abbottabad city, next to the Pakistan capital Islamabad.

According to American media, the body of the terrorist, was burried in the sea.

Previously, most experts said that it was al-Zawahri, who was considered a "man number two" in "Al-Qaeda", the successor to bin Laden. However, the temporary "acting" head of "Al Qaeda" operational staff, after having Osama bin Laden eliminated, became the Egyptian Seif al-Adl (Saif al-Adel). According to some Middle Eastern media, al-Zawahiri faced opposition of some of the organization's leaders who prefer to have the leadership passed into the hands of the younger generation.
